Malachite Butterflies Print

The lime green and black and chocolate brown coloring of the Malachite butterfly are often said to be unforgetable. The insect is a large, strong flyer attracted to decaying fruit and flowers. It is a commonly seen in Central America and ranges from northern South America to the lower parts of Texas and Florida. The caterpillars feed on plants related to ruellias or wild petunias. Proportionally sized to fit standard frames.
